Alice Cooper tribute band, Gallus Cooper, are fast building a reputation on the Scottish music scene for their accurate renditions of some of shock rock’s best songs. As their reputation spreads they are about to start hitting venues farther afield.......

Gallus Cooper started as ‘Dirt’ a rock covers band, but soon found that their Alice Cooper numbers went down a storm with their audiences. The band made the only decision possible - to build a set around the songs their fans demanded most of: Alice Cooper’s “No More Mr Nice Guy”, “Welcome To My Nightmare”, “Elected” and, of course, “School’s Out”, becoming a tribute band to the master of Shock Rock. Being from Glasgow, the tribute name of Gallus Cooper was both logical and fitting.

Alice Cooper himself found out about the band in November 2007, courtesy of Rock Radio DJ Kieron Elliott, who owned up to having played a massive wind-up earlier on the day of Alice’s Scottish gig, claiming to be ‘Mr Furnier’s attorney’ and looking for massive royalties from lead singer Peter McLean. A rep from the Performing Rights Society checked out Gallus’s next gig, reportedly sent by ‘Mr Alice Cooper’ to check that due royalties were being paid! The wind-up was played repeatedly on Rock Radio 96.3FM and has been posted more than once on ‘social networking’ sites by the said Mr Elliott. (Click here to hear one version).

The show continues to evolve, with new numbers being added and more of the theatrical aspects of the genuine Cooper performances being added, including an appearance of the snake often used by Alice Cooper himself.

Tribute bands are nothing new, but few are as well received, or have as big a future, as Gallus Cooper.
